SEO 101: Optimising Blog Posts for SEO
SEO is the process of optimising your posts and website content in order to help your ranking organically in Google.
Optimising your blog posts to make them more search engine friendly means that your site will likely be ranked higher, which in turn means that you will gain more website traffic.
How to make your blogs SEO friendly
1. Utilise keywords throughout
Once you have researched relevant keywords for your post, ensure that you use these throughout your blog post . This will help search engine crawlers to index your content.
You can include keywords in the following:
- Title
- H Tags and Headings
- Concluding paragraph
- Meta Descriptions
However, make sure that you avoid ‘Keyword Stuffing’, which is when you fill your content with too many keywords – this can result in your site being penalised in Google.
2. Optimise Your Images
Ensure that the images that you use are the correct size. This means that your website will load quicker, which is good for SEO purposes. This is because when Google crawlers search your site, they will be able to see that your load speed is low, which further helps to rank your site higher in the SERP’s.
Always include keywords in your image Alt Tags. Alt Tags are small descriptions of an image that are added in the backend of the website – which are not visible to the normal user. These are used by screen readers, in order to describe an image to a visually impaired person. Google then sees that your website is accessible, again helping to rank it higher.
3. Share on Social Media
Always share your blog posts on Social Media to create connections. This will also help with linking to your blog, as you have more external links pointing towards your site, which Google values.
By following the above simple SEO tips on all of your blog posts, you will likely rank higher in the SERP’s, helping you to gain increased traffic and higher customer conversion rates.
